War-free story on Palestine in the LA Times

(Ziv Koren / Polaris / For The Times)

Front page stories regarding Palestinians are usually related to warfare or suicide attacks. It’s worth noting that the Calendar section of today’s LA Times featured a cover story titled Quest for a Palestinian museum by Michael Z. Wise about East Jerusalem Palestinian lawyer Mazen Qubty’s efforts to create a national art museum to help forge a new identity for Palestinians and show the humanity overshadowed by war, occupation, and terror. The painting depicts oranges of Jaffa, my paternal grandfather’s hometown.

  1. Yay for art, and yay for Palestine. I am glad that the L.A Times is portraying Palestine through artistic means that do not generalize and lump Palestinians into a single suicide bomber, that is a positive change. 🙂
