Is it apathy?

The 37th Congressional District special election just ended with Democrat Laura Richardson on the top spot with less than %40 of the vote. There will be a run-off election between the top candidates because none were able to get %50.
Peter Mathews, another Democrat, was the only candidate that made an effort to reach out to Arab Americans. An anti-War, pro-Palestine candidate who refuses to raise corporate money received only %3.53 of the vote. Mathews attended the Network of Arab-American Professionals of Orange County (NAAP-OC) Mixer last Thursday and addressed the crowd, which was enthusiastic about his candidacy.
Obviously, the Arab American vote is still insignificant, since the majority of us don’t vote nor contribute to candidates. When will we learn?
